Sparrow Mindfulness
Lesson from the Sparrow.
This afternoon two sparrows landed on the rail of the back porch holding feathers in their beaks. After a few moments they flew into the nearby birdhouse and began to make their nest a bit more cozy.
Mindfulness Exercise: Take a look around your home. What are the things that make you feel cozy, warm, things that soften the edges of a hard day? What are the things that bring you joy and inspiration...or make you feel calm and at peace? Are there things that no longer belong? Is there clutter that it’s time to remove or organize, or items that you no longer find useful or pleasing? Notice what items breathe life into you and what items don’t. Are there simple items you could add to your space? Perhaps a plant, a photo, or a diffuser with essential oils you enjoy, or a token of a place you love. Our homes, whether big or small, protect us from the outside world and nurture our world within. They can be a place of renewal and rejuvenation...or a place that exhausts and depletes us. What are you surrounding yourself with? Is it time for a change? As the bird prepares its nest for springtime chicks, perhaps it’s time for you, too, to prepare your home for a new emergence of life within.
